①【Brain】

GUJI BRAIN's robust skull, covered with dense fur for vital brain protection, is the most developed among GUJIGUJI members.

06.jpg

②【Eyes】

GUJI BRAIN's eyes have a thin membrane, akin to contact lenses, providing natural farsighted vision for distant observation.

07.jpg

③【Mouth & Teeth】

Despite a small mouth, GUJI BRAIN boasts sharp teeth, ideal for chewing and swallowing food, especially their favored Armored Fruit.

08.jpg

④【Hands】

GUJI BRAIN's slender arms, unsuitable for heavy lifting, excel in climbing. In a conjoined state, they make unique movements, serving as legs when separated.

09.jpg

⑤【Breathing Pores】

The breathing pores of GUJIGUJI members are located on their backs, preventing disruption of breathing from oncoming airflow during high-speed running and avoiding inhaling dust.

10.jpg

⑥ ⑦【Symbiotic System】

GUJIGUJI's peculiar aspect involves neural tissues and organs externally encased in muscles, crucial for life functions. Interconnecting brain, body, and legs forms a vital hub. Muscles relax when linked, exposing neural interfaces; when separated, muscles close automatically to prevent blood loss and infection.

Basic Information: GUJI BODY

02-3.jpg

【Biological Name】  GUJI BODY

【Basic Data】 Height: 1.1~1.3m  Weight: 40-50kg Life: 30-35 years

【Brief Introduction】

GUJI BODY is the body of GUJIGUJI, playing a crucial role in digesting food and transporting nutrients since it houses digestive organs like the stomach and intestines.

Body Structure: GUJI BODY

11.jpg

①【Body】

Located above the head, GUJI BODY houses essential digestive organs for rapid food digestion and nutrient distribution.

12.jpg

②【Twist Joint】

In the middle of GUJI BODY, the twist joint enables a 90° rotation of the upper body, offering a broad field of vision for GUJI BRAIN.

13.jpg

③【Mouth】

Lacking sharp teeth, GUJI BODY consumes flowers, leaves, and small creatures. In emergencies, it might regurgitate undigested food to deter invaders.

14.jpg

④【Hands】

Despite being small, GUJI BODY's hands are powerful, capable of capturing small creatures and breaking branches. During separation, they function as legs for independent movement.

15.jpg

⑤【Breathing Pores】

GUJI BODY receives commands from GUJI BRAIN and communicates with GUJI LEG while transporting absorbed nutrients to other members. The receiving system at the top links with GUJI BRAIN for interconnection.

Basic Information: GUJI LEG

02-4.jpg

【Biological Name】  GUJI LEG

【Basic Data】 Height: 1.0-1.2m  Weight: 50-60kg Life: 30-35 years

【Brief Introduction】

GUJI LEG possesses a robust physique and is the driving force behind the entire GUJIGUJI's movements. While natural sprinters, they lack independent consciousness and rely on GUJI BRAIN's commands to execute intricate actions.

Body Structure: GUJI LEG

16.jpg

①【Head】

GUJI LEG's mind is slow but highly responsive to messages from GUJI BRAIN. In GUJIGUJI, GUJI LEG's brain is fully controlled by GUJI BRAIN.

17.jpg

②【Mouth】

GUJI LEG has a large mouth with blunt teeth on the upper jaw and only four on the lower jaw. It chews food directly from GUJI BODY.

18.jpg

③【Legs】

GUJI LEG has powerful leg muscles for mobility and evolved, flat, webbed feet for balance. It can stand on two legs when needed, making GUJIGUJI taller.

21.jpg

⑦【Symbiotic System】

The access point is at the top. GUJI LEG receives action commands from GUJI BRAIN and food allocations from GUJI BODY. It handles the final excretion.

19.jpg
20.jpg

④⑤⑥【Breathing Holes & Air Pump】

GUJI LEG has four breathing holes; the lower two are for breathing, while the upper two are connected to a special organ: the air pump. Functioning like a bellows, during GUJI LEG's run, the inhaling holes draw in a large volume of air into the air pump. The pump operates through the movement of the legs, providing continuous air power for GUJI LEG during high-speed running, preventing exhaustion due to prolonged running.

Symbiotic System

Previously, the characteristics and principles of the symbiotic system were briefly explained. It serves as a crucial hub for GUJI BRAIN, GUJI BODY, and GUJI LEG, divided into eight major categories with eight independent hubs.

image.png

①【Digestive Hub】

The largest connecting hub, consisting of a main esophagus and numerous nutrient lines, responsible for transporting food and nutrients.

②【Visual Hub】

Connects the eyes and brains of GUJIGUJI members, enabling shared vision.

③【Taste Hub】

Shares the taste senses of GUJIGUJI members, allowing a shared taste experience during meals.

④【Motion Hub】

Connects the brain and limbs, transmitting commands for hand and leg movements.

⑤【Touch Hub】

Facilitates the sharing of tactile sensations. When one member perceives something, others can empathize. In the case of fatal injuries, GUJI BRAIN can sever connections to avoid unnecessary pain.

⑥【Respiratory Hub】

Connects the breathing holes and respiratory organs of GUJIGUJI members, ensuring clear breathing, regulating lung capacity, and sharing the sense of smell.

⑦【Balance Hub】

Ensures that each member of GUJIGUJI remains balanced during others' movements, maintaining coordination in actions.

⑧【Reproductive Hub】

An essential hub for gene fusion and embryo transfer during the reproduction of GUJIGUJI.

Life Overview

23.jpg

GUJIGUJI are commonly found in coastal areas due to the abundance of their favorite food. A typical GUJIGUJI family consists of around 20 members, and multiple families often inhabit a single coastal region. GUJIGUJI seldom interfere with the lives of other organisms and dislike narrow spaces that impede their movements. In terms of running speed, few creatures can outpace GUJIGUJI in open areas.

Stealing is shameful! A Battle for Food

GUJIGUJI communities operate under a food tenure system where each family owns its Armored Tree. These trees provide enough food to sustain the entire family. In cases of Armored Tree death or damage by other organisms leading to food shortages, some desperate individuals may resort to stealing from other families. GUJIGUJI are fiercely protective of their food, and conflicts over it can escalate into intense and brutal battles.

44.jpg
24.jpg
27.jpg

GUJIGUJI interactions may appear playful, but they are actually brutal, often causing mutual damage. In family conflicts, the strongest members, mainly GUJI BODY, engage in battle. The defeated family must exchange territories with the victorious one.

Run! Move! Climb!

43.jpg

In the daily life of GUJIGUJI, physical exercise is a crucial component. GUJI LEG, GUJI BODY, and GUJI BRAIN temporarily separate to hone their foot strength, arm strength, climbing, and other survival skills. After sweating profusely and catching their breath, the GUJIGUJI members, enjoying the sea breeze, find an Armored Tree to lean on and take a restful nap. Perhaps, this is the secret to their robustness!

Unity Call! GUJIGUJI's Survival Will

When GUJIGUJI members face casualties, the remaining individuals head to a special area known as the Pairing Center, where members from various families who have faced setbacks gather. If luck is on their side, they may form a new GUJIGUJI. Caution! This is a gamble! Due to the symbiotic system forming during embryonic stages, any errors can result in greater damage! After a successful pairing, they return to the family of GUJI BRAIN.

Armored Fruit — Just What You Need!

25.jpg

Armored Trees grow in coastal areas, covered with sturdy armor on the outside. Inside the armor is a soft and elastic trunk. By pulling on the drooping long branches with force, the armor separates, causing the trunk to bend, revealing the delicious Armored Fruit within the trunk.

26.jpg

Armored Fruit is not the fruit of Armored Trees but an excess secretion that occurs after a surplus of nutrients. If not dealt with for an extended period, it can harm the health of Armored Trees. Fortunately, Armored Fruit is a beloved food of GUJIGUJI, and its flesh is top-notch in both taste and nutrition! With the concerted efforts of GUJIGUJI, collecting Armored Fruit is no longer a challenging task, and the harvesting process becomes a beautiful landscape on the planet.

Welcome to the Armored Frontline!

The collection of Armored Fruit is truly tailor-made for GUJIGUJI, showcasing a collaborative activity that fully utilizes the characteristics of the brain, body, and legs. Let's take a look at how they accomplish the harvest together!

32.jpg

【Step 1: Gather Together!】

Before harvesting Armored Fruit, GUJIGUJI from a family gather together.

33.jpg

【Step 2: Strength First】

Next, the strongest member of the family takes the lead in pulling the drooping branches of Armored Trees. Other members follow based on their family hierarchy.

34.jpg

【Step 3: Pulling Together】

As Armored Trees gradually stretch, rear members join in. The farther the pull, the higher the strength requirement. To achieve the harvesting state, the entire family must exert effort together.

35.jpg

【Step 4: Perfect Unfolding】

Ultimately, Armored Trees are pulled almost to a horizontal position, and the interior of the armor becomes hollow. All trunks are exposed, and the Armored Fruit on the trunks is clearly visible, signaling the start of Armored Fruit harvesting.

36.jpg

【Step 5: Unexpected】

To keep Armored Trees unfolded, GUJIGUJI must continue pulling. For other creatures, reaching this step would be impossible, but not for the three-headed, six-armed GUJIGUJI.

37.jpg

【Step 6: Division of Labor】

Since both the arm strength of GUJI BODY and the leg strength of GUJI LEG are essential, the task of picking fruits falls on GUJI BRAIN. The commander also goes to the front line—this is where GUJIGUJI's extraordinary abilities shine.

38.jpg

【Step 7: Brief Departure】

After leaving, GUJI BRAIN gives GUJI BODY and GUJI LEG some simple instructions, such as maintaining the pull during harvesting. Then, they descend from GUJIGUJI, climb along the branches, and reach Armored Trees.

39.jpg

【Step 8: Organized Action】

The trunks of Armored Trees are cylindrical, requiring GUJI BRAIN's climbing skills to move and harvest fruits. Luckily, Armored Fruit isn't firmly attached; a little force easily picks it. GUJI BRAIN throws the harvested Armored Fruit to the ground.

41.jpg

【Step 9: Take a Step Back】

While harvesting Armored Fruit, some GUJIGUJI may accidentally fall. Since there's no time to return to the tree, falling means being out. They return to their companions, and the remaining GUJI BRAIN individuals harvest as many fruits as possible until exhaustion or everyone is out.

42.jpg

【Step 10: Until Next Time】

After harvesting, GUJI BRAIN retraces the path, reuniting with the family to let Armored Trees return to their original state. One harvest may not collect all fruits, and for those on the back, pulling Armored Trees from the opposite direction will be needed in the next harvest. A single harvest takes about an hour.

Mutually Beneficial Interspecies Cooperation

Perhaps you have noticed that the process of GUJIGUJI harvesting Armored Fruit is actually a treatment for the ailments of Armored Trees. Since Armored Fruit continues to produce, GUJIGUJI periodically need to remove the "tumors" to maintain the health of Armored Trees. This relationship is akin to GULUMO and ICKYSNOOT, showcasing a real depiction of mutual benefit and harmony among different species.

Reproduction & Growth

GUJIGUJI do not have male or female distinctions, and they do not require mating or fertilization. During the breeding season, GUJI BRAIN and GUJI BODY generate reproductive cells within their bodies. They transfer their reproductive cells through the reproductive hub into GUJI LEG's body. GUJI LEG then merges these cells with its own reproductive cells, giving birth to a unique egg containing three embryos. These embryos have interconnected neural tissues and organs. From this point forward, their symbiotic system begins to form. Over the next three months, their symbiotic system gradually matures and eventually separates.

29.jpg
30.jpg

After 3 months of incubation, the little GUJI BRAIN, GUJI BODY, and GUJI LEG are born. Although they can now form GUJIGUJI, their bodies are not fully developed and are quite fragile. They often become targets for predatory creatures. Therefore, the GUJIGUJI community takes special care of the little GUJIGUJI.

45.jpg

Although the little GUJIGUJI have a symbiotic system, coordination requires prolonged exercise. Therefore, when they are young, they may not seem very harmonious. GUJIGUJI truly lead independent lives after the 9th month post-hatching.

Conclusion

31.jpg

I admire GUJIGUJI a lot. No matter how tough life is, they have two best companions to share joys and sorrows. They eat together, sleep together, face challenges together, and enjoy peaceful afternoons together. While I can only hide in a corner, waiting for the opportunity to sneak some leftover Armored Fruit... In reality, I once (coerced) joined their team and experienced the hardships of harvesting Armored Fruit. Since then, my admiration for them has grown. Despite each having their own role, in their eyes, the ones giving commands, exerting effort, and running errands are all family members with equal status. They never look down on each other due to their respective roles. This is unimaginable among my kind, and it makes me ponder, what has changed us?
