【Brief Introduction】

The MOKAKA are the first humanoid creatures that I have encountered on this planet. Like the other inhabitants, they are simple-minded, primitive, cute-looking, and are the perfect balance between nature and civilization. If they weren’t so scared of me when we first met I would like them even more...

Body Structure

05.jpg

①【Body surface】

The body hair of a MOKAKA is orange bristles about 15~30cm in length. In addition to protecting the skin from the cold and the sun, body hair also can be used in building small nests.

06.jpg

②【Main hand】

MOKAKA's main hand has 3 fingers, which are similar in shape to a human's. They allow a MOKAKA to grasp objects and also give them the potential to use tools.

07.jpg

③【Eyes】

The pupils of a MOKAKA are horizontally striped. Since they have no eyelids and do not blink, the moisturizing and cleaning of the eyes is mainly done by the deputy hand and the tongue.

08.jpg

④ 【Deputy Hand】

A MOKAKA’s Deputy Hand are located near the eyes and are very short. There is a small hole at the fingertips, which secretes an eye care solution for moisturizing and caring of the eyes.

09.jpg

⑤【Mouth】

A MOKAKA's mouth has two upper lips and two lower ones, which are similar to a human's. Since the nostrils are on the tongue, in order to keep breathing smooth, Mao Kaka people usually have their mouths open. In addition, the sound glands of the Mao Kaka people are very prominent, and they can often make a very loud roar—"MOKAKA!!!"

10.jpg

⑥ 【Teeth】

The teeth of a MOKAKA are mainly used to crush some particularly hard objects and to intimidate the enemy. Most of the food is swallowed directly into the stomach.

11.jpg

⑦【Breathing holes】

A MOKAKA's breathing holes are on their tongues. These breathing holes can be opened or closed freely, and they can also be used as a conveyor belt for food caught on the tongue if necessary.

12.jpg

⑧【Tongue】

A MOKAKA’s tongue is like their fifth hand, it's used to roll up objects that cannot be reached by the arms. The total length of the tongue can reach about 3 meters. The tongue can also help a MOKAKA complete various complicated daily operations.

13.jpg

⑨【Salivnot】

I named this slime Salivnot, because I don't know whether it is saliva or snot. These liquids not only make it easier for the tongue to roll up objects, but also have the magical effect of protecting companions.

14.jpg

⑩ 【Legs】

The MOKAKA seem to almost always walk on their tiptoes, which makes them look funny when they walk around.

15.jpg

⑪【Tail】

The tail of a MOKAKA is vestigial, with only a small section of the coccyx sticking out from below the hip, as well as their excretory orifices, which are located in front of the tail.

Life Overview

17.jpg

The MOKAKA are social creatures, they use a special material to build their nest: their own body hair. The MOKAKA stores daily hair sheds for use in nest building. The lairs of the Mao Kaka people are hemispherical in shape, ranging from high to low and from fat to thin. Individual Mao Kaka people will create more distinctive nests when their inspiration erupts, and the built nests also have various distinct functions.

MOKAKA’s Nest Construction

21.jpg

【Step 1】Collect the shed hair and viscose spores! Each MOKAKA community will have a small nest dedicated to storing body hair and viscose spores!

23.jpg

【Step 3】Continue to use more body hair, use the tongue to build a small nest! The fluids on the tongue can make the body hair sticky, so that the body hair can be used to build the nest!

22.jpg

【Step 2】Start building! Use your tongue to smash the viscose spores and use them as a foundation to stick your body hair on them!

24.jpg

【Step 4】Is building it too slow on your own? Hurry up and call other MOKAKA to help with the construction. Strength in numbers, right?

Multifunctional Featured Nest

25.jpg

【Home type】These are used by adult MOKAKA to sleep and store food after it's built.

26.jpg

【Small bulge type】On the basis of this home type, the MOKAKA will sometimes add small bulges to the nest randomly. No substantial effect has been found as of yet.

27.jpg

【Short shack】The MOKAKA will also build short shacks to cultivate ghost mushrooms and other plants that they often need to eat.

28.jpg

【Dormitory】This is a collective residence for underage MOKAKA who are unable to build a nest on their own. It is much larger than an ordinary nest, but it's still a bit crowded.

54.jpg

【Storage room】Special smaller nests for storage, some are used to store body hair, viscose spores and other materials used to construct small nests, and some are used to store the MOKAKA's eggs.

29.jpg

【KNIGHT GRASS: Natural Desiccant】

KNIGHT GRASS is a peculiar plant, they like to grow in high places, such as trees or the top of some biological nests, the MOKAKA nests are their ideal growing place. The MOKAKA will put KNIGHT GRASS seeds on the roof after a nest is built. These plants' roots penetrate into the nest and absorb the surrounding water, which strengthens the structure of the nest and keeps the interior dry.

The magical effect of the tongue

16.jpg

【Use food as a bet! 】

This is a very popular social game for the MOKAKA. Two MOKAKAs pass food back and forth through their tongues, if the food falls, it will be eaten by the other party. It is said that some MOKAKAs only rely on playing this game to get food. Game fruit is one of MOKAKA's favorite game props, because it is round and flexible, which adds difficulty and challenge to the game, and the fruit inside is also delicious.

19.jpg

【Tongue Lift】

When a MOKAKA wants to go to higher places, their tongue will become a very effective lifting tool. Long-term exercise makes the muscles of the tongue unusually strong, which can lift the whole MOKAKA up to 3 meters. Depending on the individual, the posture of a MOKAKA during the lifting process is also different, the most common ones are the vertical type and the rotating type.

55.jpg

【Tongue Tumbler】

If a MOKAKA's center of gravity is unstable and it's about to fall, their tongues will act as a support at an extremely fast speed to prevent falling, and they work the same no matter which direction they fall. But there is one exception. If they happen to fall while transporting food with their tongues, a MOKAKA would rather fall down than give up the delicious food!

20.jpg

【Speeding Tongue】

When the MOKAKA encounters danger, their short legs alone are not enough to escape, so the MOKAKA learned the trick of using their tongues to get extra support on ground to quickly bounce and move! The movement speed of a MOKAKA in this state will be greatly increased, but it consumes a lot of energy, and a MOKAKA will not be easily used when it is not an escape!

Salivnot protection: peace of mind every day!

18.jpg

Therefore, the MOKAKA always lick each other when meeting. It should be noted that Salivnot is effective not only against hungry creatures. If they chase you due to anger, then you better believe in your legs!

A MOKAKA's Salivnot contains special chemical ingredients that can act on the central nervous system of a predator and make it lose its appetite, but it must be mixed with multiple MOKAKA's Salivnot to work.

【MOKAKA ocular gymnastics】

Do it with me! The MOKAKA ocular gymnastics: It's important to keep a MOKAKA eyes moist and clean since they are without eyelids. This is done mainly by the hands below the eyes. When they do eye care, it's like they are doing ocular gymnastics...

Clap your hands, stick out your tongue~
The MOKAKA uses body movements to convey different meanings and emotions. It took me a long time to understand the meaning of these behaviors——

31.jpg

The main hands are up, the secondary hands cover their eyes, slaps the tongue, and jumps on the spot, indicating that they are very happy!

32.jpg

The main hands are held high, the deputy hands stretches forward, they bite their lower lip, their eyes are confused, and their legs are bent inward, indicating that they are hungry~

34.jpg

Aha! The main hands stretches forward, the deputy hands are held high, and the mouth is O-shaped, which means they like you!

33.jpg

The main and deputy hands take turns patting the body, with the tongue slightly stretched out, and the legs jumping in turn, indicating that they are very excited!

35.jpg

The main hands wave, the second hands covers their eyes, and the tongue is exposed for a short period of time. This action means... danger is close at hand! Run for your life!

MOKAKA's food culture

The MOKAKA are omnivorous creatures. Any food that can theoretically be digested and absorbed by the body, and is not lethal, is on the menu. Here are some of the most common foods, some because they are delicious, and some because they need to eat them...

45.jpg

Trembuit【Love】

The fruit of a timid tree, it will shake violently when touched, and it tastes delicious, but eating too much of it causes indigestion.

37.jpg

Game fruit【Like】

Because they are too round they are easy to roll, it's often used for playing games and it tastes just so-so.

38.jpg

PIPI Cub【Love】

They always crawl everywhere, so the MOKAKA sometimes eats Pipi as snacks.

39.jpg

Fur Nibbler【Dislike】

A small creature that feeds on hairs. If the MOKAKA sees them, they will eat it right away.

41.jpg

Viscose spores【Basic】

Viscose spores are a type of spore-bearing plant containing viscous substances. The MOKAKA produce their slime by consuming them.

42.jpg

Water bag flower【Basic】

Water bag flowers are the main way used to absorb moisture, and the reasons will be explained further below.

44.jpg

Stone【Basic】

Stones are not food, but they can help the MOKAKA digest food and they absorb some harmful substances for the MOKAKA.

43.jpg

Ghostmush【Basic】

Ghostmush are the daily diet of the MOKAKA. They breed quickly and are easy to find, but they taste bland.

57.jpg

【Hydro Flower: free drinking fountain】

Because of the special position of the MOKAKA breathing holes, they cannot directly take in water, because they would undoubtedly drown themselves. From this, the MOKAKA learned how to eat the Hydro Flower, a plant that stores a lot of water inside. The MOKAKA swallows the whole part above the rhizome into the stomach, destroys the plant shell through digestion, and takes in the water inside.

Reproduction & Growth

47.jpg

【 Reproduction mode 】

The MOKAKA are a parthenogenetic species. Adult MOKAKA will undergo insemination in the body during a specific period, and store a large amount of nutrients. The embryos and nutrients are wrapped in a protective shell similar to an egg, and are excreted from the body through the oral cavity. The MOKAKA will automatically sterilize after 2-3 reproductions, which is also an instinctive measure to limit the size of the population.

【 MOKAKA eggs 】

MOKAKA eggs are the first stage of the MOKAKA. These eggs are covered by dense, short hair to ensure that the embryo develops at a normal temperature. In addition, the shell of the MOKAKA eggs are very hard. It is theorized that it's formed by the indigestible food that the MOKAKA eats during the growth period. No wonder they only eat and do not excrete during that time... After 5 months, the MOKAKA eggs will automatically rupture, and the MOKAKA baby inside will be born!

48.jpg
49.jpg

【 Infancy (5 months) 】

The newly hatched MOKAKA has no body hair and looks like an oversized pea. The development of the main hands and legs of the MOKAKA are yet to mature, while the deputy hands are only two small tentacles. At this time, the MOKAKA does not need to eat, and there is a nutrition capsule in the tail that will continue to provide nutrition.

【 Early childhood (10 months) 】

After 5 months of infancy, Mao Kaka people will gradually grow sparse body hair. At this time, they look a bit weird, like a hairy oversized pea. Compared with the main hands and legs, the development of the deputy hands still needs to be improved.

50.jpg
51.jpg

【 Juvenile (17 months) 】

Seventeen months after incubation, the MOKAKA has entered the juvenile period. The deputy hands have grown into shape, the protective shell of the eyes has finally fallen off, and the MOKAKA can finally see. The main hands and legs are also more mature, and they can walk. The lips and baby teeth grows. As the mouth grows bigger, the tongue can finally move freely.

52.jpg

【 Maturity (24 months) 】

The developmental maturity of the MOKAKA is 24 months after incubation. Aside from their small size, they are no different from adult MOKAKA. But since there are still many places in the body that have not yet been fully developed, such as digestion and metabolism, they can only eat some digestible foods. In the next 12 months, they will gradually become an adult MOKAKA.

Conclusion

56.jpg

The MOKAKA are the first creatures that really accepted me. Although they look weird, they have many human characteristics. I recorded their ecology and sent them out to space, hoping that someone can see and understand this world, so that the rest of my life would become more meaningful...I still can't stand the tongue baths from time to time, and I almost never dry out!
