【Brief Introduction】

This fierce-looking monster scared me when I first came to this planet, with exposed fangs and sharp back spines... Fortunately, "Adan" is quite cute, always walking upright, thinking we are of the same kind. That's right, I have a Spinyback, I am amazing, aren't I?

Body Structure

05.jpg

①【Body surface】

The surface of a SPINYBACK is rough and hard. The dark patterns of the epidermis have a concentration of nerves, and the hardness of the skin will change according to the degree of excitement. Most SPINYBACKs who live in the wild have scars on their bodies.

②【Forehead Angle】

The SPINYBACK has a special audio-visual system that can detect sound wave vibrations and automatically image them into the brain to determine the specific position and movement of prey. Because it is extremely sensitive to melody, SPINYBACK loves music.

07.jpg

③【Stone Eye】
The SPINYBACK's eyes are grayish-red and can be closed. There is no macular structure on the retina, and a large number of visual cells cannot be concentrated. Therefore, the eyesight is very poor, and only blurred images can be seen.

08.jpg

④【Teeth】
A SPINYBACK's mouth has two rows of teeth on the top and bottom. The outer teeth are used to tear food, and the inner teeth are used to crush food and bones. They can have up to 80 teeth at a time, and the lost teeth will be constantly replenished.

09.jpg

⑤【Thorn Bone】

A SPINYBACK's back is covered with thorn bones, and the thorn bones are usually in a contracted state. When SPINYBACK is highly excited, the thorn bones will become hard and open due to hyperemia. This not only has a deterrent effect but also protects its fragile back. There are many pores in the roots of thorn bones. When a SPINYBACK exercises vigorously, these pores will discharge a large amount of exhaust gas generated in the body.

10.jpg

⑥【Nose】
A SPINYBACK has a well-developed sense of smell. The nostrils are located on the Forehead Angle, leading to the inner nasal cavity, and there is no nasal cushion structure. In fact, the nostrils of a SPINYBACK also function as ears, which can collect sounds and smells at the same time. SPINYBACK will combine the smells, sound information, and feelings of different creatures and memorize them.

11.jpg

⑦【Legs】
A SPINYBACK has four legs. The legs are thick and strong, occupying a large part of the body. These strong limbs allow the SPINYBACKs to give their prey the heaviest blow, but they also reduce flexibility.
Therefore, the running speed of a SPINYBACK in the same subject species is only average.

12.jpg

⑧【Claws】
On its forelegs, a SPINYBACK has two claws on the front and one claw on the back. On its hind legs, it has four claws on the front and one claw on the back side of the calcaneus. The claws of the forelegs are mainly used to tear and suppress prey. Although the front claws can play a role in grasping, they are not skilled, so a SPINYBACK is not good at climbing.

Life Overview

13.jpg

The SPINYBACK has a very wide range of activities. You can see them in dense jungles or open plains. With their natural physical fitness, these monsters become predators at the upper end of the food chain. Their food is mainly prey that is the same size as their own and can catch up with them at their speed. A SPINYBACK in the non-breeding period is more lively and will challenge different creatures after eating and drinking, and sometimes it will be a lot of gains. Although they are fierce and strong, there are still many creatures on this planet that can threaten the safety of a SPINYBACK, especially SPINYBACKs during the breeding period. Many would lose their lives to protect their cubs. This also leads to the incredible nurturing habits of these creatures.

Monster Music Dream

14.jpg

A SPINYBACK in courtship season will look for a plant called Singing Grass that can emit a beautiful melody. At this time, they will become extremely docile, put their foreheads against the Singing Grass, and close their eyes to enjoy the wonderful world brought by music.

Different Singing Grass produce different melodies. If two opposite-sex SPINYBACKs choose the same Singing Grass, they are likely to bond and mate together.

【Shit music dream!】

Although a SPINYBACK’s music taste and social interactions are romantic, they are often destroyed by another creature, the WUPA! These big guys also love music and dance ugly dances around Singing Grass! Unfortunately, the courtship periods of the two creatures collide, so they always compete for territory.

Affected by the Singing Grass, a SPINYBACK's desire to fight has disappeared. They can only wait for the WUPA to finish dancing before they can continue courting. It's really depressing!

Live, child!

The SPINYBACK is one of the creatures on this planet that pays the most attention to the safety of their offspring. They have always survived as a family unit. The SPINYBACK rarely fails when fighting alone, but a mother with children will have their combat effectiveness significantly reduced in order to protect their offspring. SPINYBACKs during the feeding period will try to avoid fighting and just focus on raising their child with peace of mind. Nevertheless, the little SPINYBACK still faces threats from other beasts.

16.jpg

When most creatures are in danger, they often abandon their offspring to ensure that the adult reproduces. It's the opposite with the SPINYBACK; they will fight for the safety of the cubs.

When knowing that there is no hope of survival, the safety of the cubs will be guaranteed in an unexpected way; they will be entrusted to other species to raise them. Why the SPINYBACK has such abnormal behavior still needs further investigation.

At present, this adoption mode has not affected the reproduction of the SPINYBACK, and most of the adopted SPINYBACK cubs survive smoothly.

Species that have adopted SPINYBACK cubs will do their best to raise them. This has almost become an unspoken rule among the various species on this planet. Of course, there are other reasons behind this.

17.jpg
18.jpg

The SPINYBACK are a completely carnivorous beast in adulthood, while young SPINYBACK are omnivorous, whether it is leaves or meat. As long as they can eat them, they will not refuse. Therefore, no matter what kind of organism SPINYBACK is adopted by, it will adapt to the life pattern of that species at a very fast speed.

Only a very small number of cubs may die, unfortunately, because the foster group is too special, but this is only a theoretical assumption.

Why do species that are completely different from the SPINYBACK bother to raise a beast? The answer is simple: the SPINYBACK will become their most reliable guard when they grow up!

Although the SPINYBACK has a fierce temperament, it is highly loyal to the species that raised them. Those who dare to offend their adoptive parents never dreamed that behind the seemingly weak prey, there would be an angry monster!

19.jpg
20.jpg

The original prey has now become the object of the SPINYBACK's protection. This wonderful relationship has benefited both parties. So those weak creatures have a high enthusiasm for raising a SPINYBACK, but not all species have this opportunity.

After all, there are objective factors such as living environment and body size differences. Of course, SPINYBACK orphans are even rarer. If you happen to raise one, then please cherish it!

Adoption sequelae

21.jpg

After long-term observation, SPINYBACKs adopted by other species will have some psychological problems depending on the environment they grow in. Among them, delusion is a typical one. In the long-term relationship with its foster parents, the little SPINYBACK will have deviations in self-cognition and will often imitate the behavior of the parent, mistakenly thinking of himself as the same species.

Most of the time, a SPINYBACK's delusions only manifest in some funny behavior, but if the adoption environment is too special, it will cause serious consequences.

For example, SPINYBACKs who are adopted by the PMT are likely to fall to their deaths during the training of rolling off the cliff. A SPINYBACK who was raised by the JOJO, would definitely die of food poisoning. But these are just hypotheses. In reality, I have not seen a SPINYBACK adopted by these creatures.

22.jpg
23.jpg

Another typical symptom is obsessive-compulsive disorder. It was observed that a small SPINYBACK living in the GOGO community would forcibly arrange the GOGO in a black-then-white state, and SPINYBACKs, who were raised by SPOONBE, liked to surround themselves with stones.

Fortunately, these strange symptoms will gradually decrease with age.

Rage warning!

24.jpg

The thick skin of a SPINYBACK can withstand most injuries, but the price of this sturdiness is a significant reduction in mobility. When they are highly excited, their Thorn Bone will fully open, become extremely hard, and greatly improve physical function, which makes SPINYBACKs run faster and jump higher, but the hardness and thickness of the epidermis will be lower, making it more susceptible to injury. They are usually only in this state when protecting their cubs.

Reproduction & Growth

25.jpg

The two SPINYBACKs that met through music will feed the cubs together for a period of time, usually the mother can give birth from two to three cubs in one litter. After the cubs are born, the male SPINYBACK will take care of them for a few weeks, then leave, and then the mother will feed the cubs alone.

26.jpg

【Embryonic stage】

The SPINYBACK's embryo in the womb is a mass of soft flesh in its early stages. Most parts of the body are not formed, and the epidermis is also translucent. After 3 months of growth, they will gradually have the appearance that a SPINYBACK should have. The embryo that is preparing to be born forms a smooth cortex and a large Forehead Angle, and the rhythmic diastolic rhythm of the Thorn Bone can be vaguely seen.

【 Infancy (5 months) 】

Five months later, the little SPINYBACK is born. The newly born SPINYBACK is only 20cm tall, clumsy, and non-aggressive. The parents would chew food to feed them. It is worth noting its huge head.

Its Forehead Angle is the first organ to be developed. For unsuspecting SPINYBACK babies, this helps them understand the changes in the surrounding environment.

27.jpg
28.jpg

【 Childhood (6 months) 】

SPINYBACKs grow crazily after birth. The stressful living environment does not allow them to grow up leisurely. By 6 months, their height is 50cm, their epidermis is gradually hardening, all four rows of teeth are growing, and they can chew food by themselves. At this time, their limbs can move freely, and they have developed an understanding of attack patterns, but this understanding is only manifested when pushing each other down and attacking imaginary enemies.

【 Juvenile (7 months) 】

Seven months after the SPINYBACK is born, they are already one meter tall. Running and simulating hunting are their daily activities. Although they can hunt some small creatures, they are still timid and cautious towards creatures that are unfamiliar or larger than their own size.

29.jpg
30.jpg

【 Maturity (9 months) 】

9 months after a SPINYBACK is born, his height is close to 2 meters. At this time, they are no longer as cute as they were in childhood. They have become real beasts. The mother beast will leave them, and the brothers and sisters will part ways, each looking for territory. Only at the annual courtship concert can this family have a chance to meet again.

Conclusion

31.jpg

No matter how you look at it, the SPINYBACK are typical carnivorous beasts, but when you understand them, you will be attracted by these fierce, romantic, and principled creatures. I have seen ADAN tear its prey brutally, and I was amused by it imitating the MOKAKA. I am also worried that one day I will become ADAN’s food...

Later, I'll gradually let go of my worries. After all, ADAN has saved me so many times that even if I was eaten by it in the end, it's not a big loss!
